York Street Medical Practice: Our scheme features one and a half storeys of consulting and treatment rooms, a meeting room, training facilities for University medical students and a pharmacy shop. Home to health visitors and district nurses as well as GPs and practice nurses, the building also has provision for paperless medical records and internet conferences. The history of the site as a former church mission hall is reflected in its pitched roof and commemorated by the building’s name, Lewis Gibson Houses. The simple cost effective design aims to makes the most of the narrow south facing site overlooking the park to create a light and colourful building.
Nuffield Road Medical Centre: At Nuffield Road we again wanted to produce a light, friendly building, this time featuring consulting rooms, ancillary facilities and a pharmacy around a central courtyard. A second phase of development took place five years after the original, in which we provided the practice with five further consulting rooms, additional waiting areas, meeting room and further staff facilities.
Huntingdon Road Surgery: We added a three storey extension to the Surgery, a fine existing house within the West Cambridge Conservation Area adjacent to Murray Edwards College, comprising a glazed reception and treatment link to a new consulting wing that reflects the architecture of the original.
