The Great Hall development takes many of its cues in terms of form and materials from the adjacent Thomson Building, home of the science departments. It is only fair then that the new building also provides three new laboratories carefully coordinated to seamlessly connect to the existing chemistry, physics and biology departments. These labs split theoretical and practical teaching, with space for 24 pupils at both desks and benches. Furthermore with the connection to Great Hall the science departments are now accessible by lift for the first time.
