We have designed a new complex on Round Church Street for Trinity College comprising a 110 cover high end restaurant on the ground floor with four floors of student accommodation above. The accommodation, Ramanujan House, provides thirty-nine post graduate study bedrooms along with shared kitchens, lounges and six one-bed self-contained apartments.
The new Trinity building takes style references from the adjacent Waterhouse designed Victorian Cambridge Union Society and together with our refurbishment proposals for the neighbouring section of the Union replaces the tired and mismatched mix of Victorian, 1930s and 1960s architecture with a unified sympathetic modern interpretation along Round Church Street.
Planning Permission was granted in December 2016 for the initial scheme and the Planning Committee members voted unanimously for the updated scheme in January 2018. Morgan Sindall constructed the new building between October 2018 and April 2021 during the unique COVID-19 environment.
