The Kho Building

We designed this new accommodation building for the Leckhampton graduate colony of Corpus Christi College.  The building sits in an established wooded garden, with a variety of neighbouring buildings from which we took inspiration.  Our approach reflects both the traditional materials of the original Leckhampton House and the rhythm and verticality of the modernist George Thomson Building.

The Kho Building provides a mixture of naturally ventilated individual study bedrooms, shared social spaces and self-contained flats sited to maximise heat gain and the views across the sports field.  The design also conserves energy with gas fired air source heat pumps forming part of the site wide service installation.
