[hi-res version with enlargable images]
The refurbishment and extension of the Cambridge University ADC Theatre began in 2003 with the first of three phases of work to date designed by Bland, Brown & Cole.
This has transformed the public spaces with a new entrance and box office, enlarged bar and disabled access to the first floor auditorium. The remodelled facade and foyer gives the theatre a much stronger presence on the street. sketch perspective of the completed project
There have also been radical improvements to back stage facilities, with new offices, a clubroom and one of the few control rooms that is served by a lift, enabling disabled users to participate in lighting and sound.

Up to 2007, the contracts have totalled £1.3 million. The final phase is now on site and due for completion in late 2008. This will include new dressing rooms, a rehearsal room, a workshop and an enlarged stage. The auditorium is also to be reseated and upgraded.
